Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

Melingva ("we", "us") is the language learning service operated by the individual identified in our Legal Notice . These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you", "user") and Melingva.

Users under 15 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to use the service. By creating an account, you confirm that this condition is met.

2. The service

Melingva is a language-learning application that helps users build vocabulary through contextual sentences and spaced repetition. The service is currently entirely free, and all currently available features can be used without payment.

No paid plan or subscription is currently available for purchase. We may introduce paid plans or additional features in the future. If we do, we will update these Terms and clearly communicate the applicable prices and conditions before making any paid offer available.

We may develop, modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the service. Where possible, we will provide reasonable notice of significant changes or interruptions. Such changes may be necessary for technical or security reasons or to evolve the service.

3. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at melingva@proton.me if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

Accounts are strictly personal. Sharing your login credentials with another person is prohibited. Creating or using multiple accounts to circumvent the service's usage limits is prohibited. Violations of these rules may result in account suspension or termination.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, automatically retrieve, or extract content from the platform
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
• Share, resell, or sublicense access to your account

Any violation of these rules may result in suspension or termination of the account.

5. Intellectual property

All original content on Melingva, including the sentence corpus, interface design, and software, is the property of Melingva or its licensors. You are granted a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the service solely for your own learning purposes, subject to these Terms.

6. Limitation of liability

The service is provided to the extent permitted by applicable law. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Melingva shall not be liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded under applicable French law, including applicable consumer protection law.

7. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access in the event of a breach of these Terms or where necessary to ensure the security of the service. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends and your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy .

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the service, technical developments, or changes in applicable law. In the event of a material change, we will notify you by email or by a notice in the app at least 30 days before the changes take effect where possible. Some changes may take effect immediately when necessary to comply with a legal obligation or to ensure the security of the service. Continued use of the service after the revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, you are invited to contact us first in an attempt to reach an amicable resolution. Subject to any mandatory applicable rules, any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably shall be submitted to the competent courts.
